April 8, 2025 | Joe Blackstone | Leave a comment As a society, we’ve got a problem, and it’s not the obvious one, but it comes from it. The problem is entitlement, and it starts right at the top. Donald Trump was never told “no” growing up, and as an adult (hold your snicker), he doesn’t take “no” for an answer. That’s not noble. That’s arrogant. Sometimes “no” is the answer. YouTube and TikTok are full up of videos that show people who think they’re entitled to this or that, and they aren’t. They show off the meltdown and the yelling as these people don’t get what they want . . . but they aren’t Trump. Too often, they’re my peers. My fellow Gen-Xers who grew up in a world where greed was celebrated. The so-called “me” generation. And it’s not just upper and middle class. I saw a post on Reddit the other day that just left me gobsmacked, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that greedy, arrogant bastards have figured something out. And it was something super simple. “Pay your fare if you can,” is what the headline said. The poster went on to talk about how he was riding the city bus in Albany, and the driver was mad enough to chew nails and spit out iron filings. It seems like half the passengers on the bus just blew right by the fare box and took a seat. But I ask you, what’s the guy going to do? Is he going to call the jumper out? What if the guy gets violent? I’m sure the driver isn’t paid enough to make it worth the two dollar fare to risk getting punched in the face by some arrogant fucker who thinks the world owes him. I mean, sure, the driver could just park there and wait until the guy pays the fair, but if he does that, he’s late, and he makes everyone else on the bus late, too. He can’t win here against the arrogant bastards, because unlike them, he’s bound by the rules, and they aren’t. So that brings me back to the arrogant, greedy bastard who sits in the Oval Office. He is entitled to sit there. He won that seat fair and square according to the rules, just like Joe Biden did. That’s the truth, whether anyone likes it or not, but the left isn’t whining about losing, at least not as much as the right was for four years. Honest, rule-abiding folk are scared shitless of this bastard. There’s rumblings of opposition within his political party, but nobody seems to want to be the one to stand up. The Democrats, with a few exceptions like Bernie, AOC and Cory Booker, are not doing a good job of opposing, either, even though they haven’t got a lot to lose at this point. Universities are folding their hands because they are afraid of losing federal funding. The arrogant, greedy bastard in the Oval Office hasn’t got any rights to hold back that funding, but he’s doing it anyway. Law firms, with one exception, are folding their hands, and even throwing in some pro-bono services to the arrogant, greedy bastard in the Oval Office, because if they don’t he throws down penalties like barring them from ever entering federal buildings . . . like courts, for instance. The press, again, with a few notable exceptions, are folding their hands, because some of them want to do mergers or whatever else that might need approval from the federal government. Even the Southern Poverty Law Center, who’ve got nothing to lose by standing up to this arrogant, greedy bastard, are folding. Did you know they recently took LGBT cases off the list of things they’ll handle? I’ve been meaning to write that one up, but I promise you, it’s true. And all of this is based on the greedy bastard in the Oval Office sitting there, looking at us and essentially saying, “what the fuck you gonna do about it?” And that’s a problem. What the fuck are we gonna do about it? I don’t have the answer to that, but we need to find one, and fast.
